The Grays

by Whitley Strieber

Forge Books, NY, Paperback, 2007, 371 pages, price $7.99

Strieber is both a successful novelist and also an alleged alien abductee.  Here in The Grays he combines the two with a novel about aliens and government cover-ups.
Although fiction, Strieber has obviously read a lot of non-fiction literature on UFOs.  He has flying triangle UFOs, he mentions the 1980 Cash-Landrum sightings in Texas, the Black Budget that finances the coverup is dealt with, a shadowy group called the Trust is behind the cover-up.
President Eisenhower's 1954 alleged meeting with aliens is mentioned, as is Travis Walton's 1976 Arizona abduction.

Leonard Stringfield and Richard Dolan's books are also mentioned as is a recent Kentucky sighting/abduction that MUFON investigated.

I won't give away much of the plot, however the Grays depicted are neither good or evil.  They have their own agenda which involves taking humans and returning them.  A secret organization, the Trust, fears public knowledge of UFOs and will resort to any means to silence any opposition.  The central plot involves an empath, a human who can telepathically communicate with and understand the Grays.  The villain of the novel, Colonel Michael Wilkes wants to silence the empaths.

In some ways The Grays is similar to the Spielberg sci-fi mini series Taken from a few years ago.  Both involve an Indigo child in contact with aliens.  I enjoyed them both and I think you will enjoy The Grays if you are into science fiction.
